Casey and I got married in Orange, CA on July 31st, 2010. We were worried that it was going to be the hottest day EVER but it wasn't! Our budget was ~$7,000, not including rings or honeymoon, and I am pretty sure we stuck to it! I have a question. What is the point of a garter? I know that traditionally the groom gets to take off the garter during the reception and throw it at the guys, but I also know that lots of people don't do that anymore. So does the garter serve any other purpose? If you aren't doing the throwing of the garter thing, are you still wearing one? Why?

So, thanks to EVERYONE with their help on the father/daughter dance. Now, onto my next hurdle. After recently attending a wedding, I realized how much I hate the traditional bouquet and garter toss. However, I still want to toss my bouquet and was thinking having all females come up for it- but I wouldn't do the garter toss.

So my question is, how are you doing the bouquet and garter toss if you are doing it?

I'm not into the whole garter toss thing...Do we have to have it? Are you planning to have one? What is your reasoning?

So...I'm not a big fan of the bouquet and garter toss. Or scratch that...I don't mind them at all, but it seems guests anymore at the weddings I attend hate 'em. The single gals barely try to grab the bouquet, and I've heard numerous examples of the garter falling on the ground until some guy halfheartedly picks it up. How frustrating ( Read more... )

Is the garter supposed to go on a specific leg? I wasn't going to bother with the garter toss but I just bought some really hot shoes and now I'm rethinking it.
